A Proper Goodbye

A Proper Goodbye by Kirixchi

I’m re-reading Lord of the Rings atm, and sort of re-discovering my love for Tolkien. It’s truly wonderful really. I think it all started with Sara and I watching the extended editions while we croucheted one day, and it all went downhill after that you could say.

And, if I love something, of course I want to read some nice fanfiction about it, I mean, it’s me^^

I logged on to Emyn Arnen, an archive completely dedicated to Éowyn and Faramir and went searching for stories.

I found this one, and I don’t think I’ve read it before. It’s very fluffy and romantic and a bit steamy. Hot hot hottt:)

Faramir is leaving on a short mission, shortly after the wedding. Éowyn is disappointed that he didn’t give her a proper goodbye. So she takes it on herself to teach him how the Rohirric does it.

“Long years of practice had hardened Faramir to forcing his body into tasks he mind would rather ignore. He did not want to ride east into Mordor. He was tired of war, weary of death, heartsick of destruction- but he would go. He was Prince of Ithilien now, and the responsibilities of that office were no less sacred than those he had held as Steward. He was bound to protect this land, even to the point of death- be that death of body or of soul- and he would fulfill his mandate.

Still, Faramir regretted the circumstances of his parting. The presence of the White company, saddled and waiting in the courtyard, had disuaded him from offering his wife anything more than a token buss against the forehead before stepping into the saddle to ride away. There hadn’t been time for a proper goodbye. That is, he hadn’t made time for one, and now he keenly felt the omission.

The horses reached the top of small rise, and then they turned, making for the wooded passes that led through the hills. Behind him was the last glimpse of his home, and he could not help but spare a final glance. Eowyn was still standing at the gate, her white skirts flashing brilliantly in the summer sun. He could not see her face with his eyes, but in his heart the features were etched: cherry, bow-like lips set in a defiant line, cheeks stained with tears, and cool eyes brimming with both longing and accusation.”

Very sweet, and I think somewhat in character. I think the problem with LotR fanfiction is that you write about the hero’s sort of “off stage” if you know what I mean. We don’t really know how Faramir reacts when he’s not acting as a Captain of Gondor and so on.

But, knowing what we do know, about Éowyns presumable relationship with Grima, and Faramir’s relationship with his father, I would say they are true to their characters. Read read read!

What’s up with the beard?

SPOILER FOR DEATHLEY HALLOWS!!!!!

Haha, I had no idea these pictures were online! I knew they’d filmed the epilogue, but this is just AWESOME!

I know it’s blurry and all, but look at the hair! And (I just noticed it) he’s wearing a wedding ring!!! Fluffers says Iiiiiiiip!!! OME!!!

It was hard to find any photos of Hermione… this was the best I found. And it sorta doesn’t show much. I mean, I guess her skin looks a bit greyer, but more than that… I don’t know. She does look like a business woman though:)

Okay, many thoughts going on here. First, I hope it’s just the picture and that they didn’t make Ginny fat. Because seriously, if there was a MILF in Harry Potter, it would be her.

Second, doesn’t Harry sorta look a bit like David Yates? Just me? And, what’s up with the double chin??? He’s supposed to be lanky! Gah!

I do sorta like though, I think, that Ginny looks a bit like her mother. Even if I think she should’ve been prettier.

Saving the best for last! WHAT’S UP WITH THE BEARD???? He looks like someone doing role-play! Gah! Perv-beard that’s what it is!

This was very cute though… Father and Son. Ha, that must’ve been so weird to shoot!

Part of me can’t wait to see the film, and the other part doesn’t want this to end. Ever! The end is almost here! Aaaah!

Could this be Renesmee?

Are you ready fellow fanpires?

EW.com reports an insider leak that 9-year old Mackenzie Foy might be the one to play Nessie in Breaking Dawn!

“It’s a big day for Twihards. First Maggie Grace signs on to play Irina. Now EW.com has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.

Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue. But to see Foy’s angelic face, which could very well be the offspring of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, check out her website.

Does she look as you’ve imagined it? I think she might possibly look terrifyingly cute^^ and after what the computer tech guys did with Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button, I don’t think making her look a few years younger is gonna be a problem.

And hey, while I’m here, did anyone get that RPattz won Glamour Magazine’s “Best Dressed Man 2010″??? Since WHEN? But I guess he’s just so totally drop dead gourgeous in an awesomely sexy kinda way that no one can ever look better than him. Awesome:D

Ode to my Computer

As many other young people of today, I seriously love my computer. Seriously.

I actually just bought a new one, a bit smaller, so I can take it with me without breaking my back.

Since I use my computers so much, the all have a different name.

My first computer was called Lancelot. But he died on me. The screen turned dark and you couldn’t see ANYTHING unless you held light close to it.

Then, I got Tristan. He’s my saving Angel. He’s never got a virus or anything. He’s awesome:D

And now then, I have Galahad. My baby. He’s all light and white and little! Iiip

For you who don’t know, Galahad is one of the Knight’s of the Round Table in Arthurian Legends.

Sir Galahad, is a knight of King Arthur’sRound Table and one of the three achievers of the Holy Grail in Arthurian legend. He is the illegitimate son of Lancelot and Elaine of Corbenic, and is renowned for his gallantry and purity. Emerging quite late in the medieval Arthurian tradition, he is perhaps the knightly embodiment of Jesus in the Arthurian legends”

Want to share your own computer story? :D

What is it with trailers??

As I hope most of you are aware of, the first trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I” was released last wednesday. And of course it was totally awesome! Alright, alright, I might be a bit biased, but hey, it’s Harry Potter!

But, why does every trailer have to have some lame catchfrase? I still haven’t gotten over the “Why do you still live?//Because I have something worth living for” moment in the last one.

To give another example, we have the classic  ”when you can live forever, what do you live for?” from Twilight.

This one was better though, I admit that. But I don’t appreciate Scrimgoeur telling Harry he can’t fight the war alone.

But the “they’re coming!” moment was pretty epic! Hoping for an even more epic movie come november:D

So, what are your thoughts??

The Mail Order Bride by ldywynedd

A nice lovely 19th centuary Western. Or, as the author puts it, a nice excuse to see Edward in a cowboy hat^^

Edward has escaped the expectations of his family and society in Chicago and “went west”. He started a ranch near Bear Valley in Colorado. But he is lonely and seeks a companion.

Bella lives with her brother Micheal, and runs his household. But when he is about to get married, she knows she needs to find her own place in life.

Edward writes a letter to a paper, “The Matrimonial News” and by coincidense, Bella reads it.

She is moved to answer and from hence they start corresponding with eachother. They agree that they are well suited for a life together, and after a short courtship they get married.

If you ever thought cowboys and ranching was hot, this story is sure to make it HOTTER!

I love the amount of detail and research the author has put into her story. It’s amazing! My absolute favorite part is their early letters, they are so cute!

The only thing I dislike is Jacob Black being their neighbour and rather sinister ranchowner. (I am sensing he is to become the antagonist later). And Rosalie being his sister. I would use that as a perfect excuse to work in some old cowboy/indian fighting.

Dear Miss Bella,

What with the passing of the vernal equinox, I have been eagerly looking for the harbingers of spring. And surely, everywhere I look, I see the hope of pleasant weather. The snow is relegated to the deep shades of the trees and is receding up the mountains. Spring flowers are beginning to poke through the insulating pine needles that litter the ground. The sky seems bluer and the birds are singing louder but maybe that is more of a reflection of my hopes than a sure indication that softer times are nearing.

This past winter has been bleak; the snow has been deeper and lasted longer than any can remember. It was cold in the saddle, trying to insure the cattle had shelter and food and my long days became long nights more frequently than I would have desired. The only bright spots in the dark, cold months were the weekly letters you so faithfully wrote. I reread them so often, I can frequently quote them verbatim. I treasure each one because, like Scheherazade, they revealed to me the woman you are by dropping one veil after another until I feel I know you almost as well as I know myself. Dare I hope my missives have also revealed the manner of man that I am to you?

How can that be possible, though? Surely, words on a page are not enough? I have an aching desire to know you more. With the change in the air and the new season upon us, do you think now is the time we cast our lots to the wind and to chance?

Miss Bella, I ask you to come to me. My intentions are noble and honest. I need a helpmate, a wife, and I am of the opinion that we would suit.

However, I have no wish to impose my desires upon you. It is hard to tell solely by correspondence if my opinion is completely accurate and perhaps my words mis-portrayed me over the months. So, I am offering you a proposal.

Miss Bella, do you think there is a chance that you could commit yourself to a life with me? I am hopeful of marriage for us and I have written it here so that your family and friends will know my intentions are pure.

All that being said, in case circumstances don’t pan out as I am currently hoping, I will purchase for you a round-trip ticket. This way you have the means to leave and return home if you feel the need. But I am hoping you will stay.

What say you?

Respectfully yours,

Edward Cullen

According to the author, these things weren’t that uncommon. There was a serious lack of women in the western provisions.

All in all, well worth the read:D

Happy B-day Frodo and Bilbo!

What better day to resurrect the blog than on this very special Ring-er day! (are we still calling ourselves that?)

Do a happy jig jig and have some cake:D

This is also a promise of more updates to come. I know for certain that Sara has some fics up her sleeve that she’s been dying to write about.

On another, but also totally wonderful, note we are proud to say that we have reached almost 35 000 views! Yay for fanfiction! :D

Pain on Pain by Coquettishness

This is the latest story from one of my favorite writers. It’s an AU version of New Moon. Alice sees Bella meeting Laurent, him sorta attacking her, but the it all goes blank (the wolves descends). The entire Cullen family flips out, and they all come back. And by all, I mean everyone.

“My dreams were strangely vivid that night.

His familiar scent was all around me, flirting on the edge of my senses like an old friend, lost but never forgotten. It felt as though he was in the room with me. Impossible, but there it was all the same.

On the dim borders of my dreamscape, a shadow moved.

Like a fool, I imagined it was him – leaning over my sleeping form and brushing my hair aside so he could see my face. I stirred in my sleep, discomfited by the memory of him, but I was too tired to open my eyes. Besides, if I did that, the dream would slip away before it had barely begun.

I pretended his hand was on my brow, the coolness of his thumb smoothing away the tension, his other hand lost somewhere in my hair.

I sighed happily. Unhappily.

What a cruel imagination I had.

It wasn’t really him, of course. Even caught somewhere in the middle of waking and sleeping, I knew I was only experiencing some sort of self-indulgent dream. He wasn’t coming back, and I had accepted that fact. I wasn’t okay with it, but I had accepted it. Still, I wasn’t prepared for how much something as simple as a dream hurt me. The idea of him actually in my bedroom – the place where I had always been the most vulnerable with him – it was painful.

I loved and missed him too much, and the wounds were still too fresh. I needed to push the memory of him aside before it ripped the gaping hole he’d left in my chest even wider.

The lump in my throat was difficult to swallow, but I managed. “Please,” I whispered. I don’t know if I said it out loud, or if I just imagined myself speaking. Not that it mattered one way or another. I was addressing a figment of my imagination.

The hand stilled on my forehead, uncertain.

“Please,” I whispered to the dream. “Just stop. Hurts.”

The hand lingered a moment longer – then disappeared.”

Told from Bella’s POV, this is, I believe, a more realistic version of how their reunion would be. You can really feel her frustration, anger and simple joy of having him back. It’s a wonderful story, and I recommend everyone to read it, especially in this soon-to-be New Moon crazed times. New Moon ftw!

Let’s Love Hate

Let’s Love Hate by Forever17

*Crawling up from under rock* Please don’t hurt me! I’ve been busy and lazy, and very busy! But I’ll try to be better from now on. Like update more than once every third months or however long it’s been. I’m so sorry!

What I haven’t stopped doing though, is reading and loving fanfiction. Which is really all what this blog is about really, when it comes down to it. Sara is off iiiping over eggplants or something. J-pop fans you know.

Anyhow, to the story.

A different story. I don’t think I’ve read anyone like it actually. It sorta reminds me a bit of “Coming to Terms”. But not really.

Bella and Edward are married. But due to a huge misunderstanding and serious thickheadedness on boths sides, they’ve lived seperately for three months.

Then, Alice, not knowing any of this, calls and invited them to her Jasper’s wedding. Bella and Edward don’t wanna hurt their family during the celebration, so they decide to put on a show and pretend that things are still great between them.

“Edward and I just stood awkwardly next to the bed after Alice and Jasper left, our eyes downcast and looking everywhere but at each other.

Finally Edward cleared his throat and I looked up at him. “So, uh, I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty tired,” he said, only glancing at me a couple times.

I nodded and looked at the bed. “Yea, me too,” I offered lamely.

“You can take the bed,” we both said at the same time.

“Sorry,” he sad quickly. “Um, you take the bed. I’ll just lay down on the couch downstairs.”

“What about Alice and Jasper? Won’t they think it’s weird we aren’t sleeping together?” I pointed out.

As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted them, realizing what I had just said. Edward chuckled without humor and rubbed the back of his neck apprehensively, still looking down.

“Bella, we haven’t slept together in over three months. It’s not that weird anymore,” he said quietly.

“First, that’s not what I meant by ‘sleeping together,’” I said. He looked up at me, amusement evident in his eyes. “And second, it may not be weird to you and me, but it will be to them,” I finished, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Alright,” he finally conceded. “I’ll just…go on my side and you stay on yours,” he said as he climbed onto the bed and laid on his back, letting out a satisfied sigh.

“What are you doing?” I demanded, walking around the bed to go stand next to him.

“What do you mean?” he asked me, seeming utterly confused.

I rolled my eyes and sighed as I walked over to the door, locked it, and walked back. We would have to be in the same room, but we didn’t both have to be in the bed. If the door was locked, no one would come in and see that I was asleep on the bed while he was in the bathtub or something. It was common logic. I don’t know why I didn’t just think of it before.

He was watching me curiously, a hint of mischief in his eyes. “Why, Mrs. Cullen, are you trying to seduce me?” he asked teasingly, sitting up on his elbow.

Gah! Must he be so effing sexy all the time?

To my own surprise, I began leaning in toward him. His breathing hitched as my face came within a few mere inches of his. I saw him visibly swallow the lump in his throat and sit up a little more. I licked my lips and looked down at his then back up into his eyes. He was watching me curiously and a bit apprehensively, probably wondering what the hell I was doing.

“It’s going to be Miss. Swan again very soon,” I said in a low, threatening voice. “And you’re sleeping on the fucking floor.””

And yes, it’s rated NC-17. Just the way we like it. :P

It’s got a real nice balance between humor, angst and romance. The author really inspires me, and her writing and “plotting” are amongst my favorite atm. I really love her!

Perhaps I should’ve already mentioned this, but it’s an All Human. What’s up with that? I haven’t read a decent vamp story in AGES!  D’you guys have any recommendations? I would be soooo glad to hear them! Been wanting to read some nice New Moon angsty vamp goodness, but can’t seem to find anything new. I sincerely hope that I haven’t reached that point in my obsession where I’ve read every fic. That would just be bad. Really bad.

Hope to update again soon! Maybe do a little New Moon review thingy… Or just simply gush over RPattz general sexiness. We’ll see. :P
